# Prog Rock
Progressive rock (often shortened to prog rock or prog) is a broad subgenre of rock music that emerged in the late 1960s, aiming to elevate rock from danceable pop singles into a serious, complex art form. It moves past traditional three-minute verse-chorus formats by blending the core elements of rock with instrumentation and songwriting techniques borrowed from classical music, jazz fusion, avant-garde, and traditional folk.
